The Curious Case of Indians and their Road Mannerisms

Indians, we are a rare species. We invented the zero, we sent a space vehicle to MARS in a fraction of what it cost NASA, we believe in democracy and we are ONE NATION even though we are different. But why are we rare? We somehow tend to do and see things differently. So where else in the world do you think the concept of Missed calls would have originated from?

It is this annoyingly consistent habit of us doing things different, is costing us lives. And no, it’s not natural, it’s our own fault. For an Indian living in India for the last 2 decades, I have seen the situation go from bad to worse. Somehow, even repeated efforts from Government as well as Non Government Organizations haven’t had much of an effect on the ROAD SAFETY concerns

As Sujith Peter, Head HR (South), Infosys put it during an interaction recently “Some of the smartest people make the biggest mistakes when it comes to ignoring road rules”, referring to the long stretch on the OMR, which records maximum road accidents in Chennai.

So what can we do? How can we curtail this demon that exists inside each and every individual? The one possible answer is awareness! And this blog will do its best in creating awareness on ROAD SAFETY and how we as responsible citizens of India can change this trend.
